The player in question is of course Luis Suarez, who has indicated that he wants to play Champions League football next season.
Clearly he won't be doing that at Liverpool!
Arsenal have never confirmed their reported 30 million pound bid for the player. If they did make an offer of that enormity, it would double the club's record fee.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers is trying to keep the player, saying:
“He has got three years left on his contract, we don't want to sell him, and we hope everything will be fine for the summer.”
“The facts remain the same. He's a very valued player, an absolute magician on the football field. We'll communicate in some way nearly every day, either through text or through a conversation. Luis is a real competitor, a real winner."
"He wants Liverpool to do so well but, like every player, every manager, and more importantly every football club, they want to be working at the very highest level.”
Arsene Wenger meanwhile is said nothing when asked if he'd increase his bid:
“We're hoping we will be in a position where we can answer this question. As you know, the transfer period demands a certain air of confidentiality and of secret.”
Do we want Suarez? - I say yes please.
