However because I'm not Arsene Wenger, I'm free to say what I think.
For years we've had to endure people constantly saying that changes have to made to the disciplinary process to help cut out these horrendous injuries from our game. All the bleeding heart TV pundits keep churning out the same old mantra condemning over-the-top tackles, until somebody actually gets crippled.
Of course the moment this happens they simply cough and splutter, mumbling about 'clumsy' and 'mistimed' tackles, and how 'he's a good lad really', with 'not a malicious bone in his body'.
For fucks sake!!
Why is the first reaction always the attempted exonerration of the offending player?
Let's just suppose that there was no malicious intent on the part of Taylor - If that really is the case (and I don't believe it is) then he should be banned simply to protect other players from further 'mistimed' tackles. Clearly he's not up to speed when it comes to the demands of the modern game, especially at the pace it's played in the Premier League, and he should be sidelined simply to protect other players.
Here's what Arsene had to say after having his 're-think'....
"It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury to Eduardo. On reflection, I feel that my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did immediately after the game, in the heat of the moment."
