He enthused: "We have shown great resilience and character and, when the fatigue kicked in, great solidarity with each other. When Chelsea came back to 2-1 down, we had the resources to score a third goal and that tells you a lot about this team. I'm very proud of them as they have shown everything I like in football.
"I'm convinced that the team have the quality to do well in Europe but we gave up a lot of energy in the FA Cup that maybe handicapped us in the Champions League. I regret that a little less now. We've recovered well in the past two games with great performances of character and resilience."
He went on to rule Sol out of the England game at the weekend due to his persistent achilles problem (like he should be going to play against Liechtenstein when we have important matches coming up anyway!) saying: "We will have to see how Sol Campbell reacts to the game but I think he will be very short for the Liechtenstein game".
