Arsenal striker and playmaker is insisting that the Gunners have nothing to prove to Wayne Rooney or anyone else for that matter ahead of their much-anticipated clash on Sunday.
Wayne Rooney suggested on Wednesday that while Wenger?s side are top of the table at the moment, they will struggle to keep that lead later on in the season. The United striker also stated that he is confident his side can overpower Arsenal. ?We're obviously capable of beating Arsenal - we've done it many times in the past," the England international told reporters.
?We'll have to wait and see where they are in March," the 28-year-old stated. "We've seen before that they've been in the top two until February and March and then they've faded off, so it's down to them to try to stay there.
Ozil has fired back at the England striker?s statements affirming that his side will travel to Manchester this Sunday with no fear and a winning mentality to secure their lead on the Premier League table.
?We are going to Old Trafford to have fun and that is why we are going to win,? he told The Sun. ?I don't think we have to prove anything to Wayne or anyone else. We know the quality we have and we want to be successful playing our own way.?
So far in the season Arsenal have been having a great run but have a tight 2-point lead ahead of Liverpool. Manchester United are sitting in eighth position in the table after having drawn at home against Chelsea and Southampton, and lost to rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and West Brom.
