After initial diagnosis, it was originally thought that David would recover, however the cancer claimed his life on 31st March 2001.
The Marc Fisher Trust is currently researching cures for this disease and also for the similar Hodgkins disease. In particular, the charity focuses on finding cures to prevent recurrence of the cancer once diagnosed. At the time of Rocastle's death, his widow Janet asked for any donations to be made to the trust. The club has kept close links with the charity ever since.
As many of you will have already read, to honour the memory of Rocastle we are producing a book about what he himself described as his best Arsenal memory. We of course mean the 2-0 away victory against Liverpool at Anfield on 26th May 1989 that sealed the title for Arsenal with virtually the last kick of the season.
All proceeds from this book will be channelled directly to the Marc Fisher Trust, so if you have not pre-ordered your copy, please click here now.
So far, we have received around 350 submissions, from a varied mix of people. From the famous to the non-famous, from the sane to the, (quite frankly), insane. Everybody wants to relive and share their memories...If you have not yet submitted your story to upforgrabsnow@hotmail.com then hurry, hurry, hurry. Deadline for submissions is the 8th April. We cannot guarantee inclusion or consideration for submissions received after this date. Please continue to harass friends and family who have either not submitted a story, or not pre-ordered their copy.
This is a production by the fans, for the fans, so it would be tragic for you to miss out on what was probably the best Friday night ever.
