Overrated. Probably the most overused word in the vocabulary of the delightful folk on 'football Twitter'.
"He missed a penalty? Overrated". "He plays for Liverpool? Overrated". "He failed to pick up his 34th assist of the season? Overrated". "He hasn't won the World Cup? Overrated".
That being said, there are a number of players in England's top flight who are given too much credit. Too damn much, and they must be outed.
Here is 90min's DEFINITIVE list of each Premier League's club's most overrated player, freshly updated for the 2019/20 campaign.
Arsenal - Mattéo Guendouzi
No, Arsenal's most overrated player is NOT Mesut Ozil because he is now universally considered to be shite.
It's my assertion that players who run around like headless chickens get far too much credit than they deserve. Granted, good fitness is commendable but it is also a pre-requisite for being a professional football player.
Sure his stats are great this season - outstanding even - but his technique isn't quite there and he has the misguided hotheadedness of his midfield partner Granit Xhaka.
Having said that, lovely, lovely barnet - but unfortunately for the French youngster, a gorgeous head of hair doth not a great footballer make.
Aston Villa - Jack Grealish
Just as a haircut doth not a great footballer make, neither does the 'gazelle-step' style of dribbling - I can personally attest to that.
The darling boy of Villa fans, he just isn't *that* good. I tend to trust the judgement of the Tottenham recruitment team who opted not to follow up on their reported interest in the £40m-rated midfielder in recent transfer windows.
He's spent two seasons in the Championship where you would have expect him to have absolutely killed it, but nine goals and 16 assists in two years in the second tier is hardly anything to write home about.
Bournemouth - Dominic Solanke
So far Chelsea, and in turn Liverpool, have so far been vindicated in their respective decisions to let Solanke go.
Having failed to get an opportunity at Chelsea, the one-cap England international moved to Liverpool, but failed to show enough to convince Jurgen Klopp to thrust him into the Premier League spotlight.
Since joining Bournemouth for £17m in January, Solanke has be soshort (sorry) on goals - in fact he hasn't scored at all in 18 appearances. At just 22, he has plenty of time left to make good on his fledgling career, but as of yet, the talented forward has yet to deliver.
Brighton - Lewis Dunk
Lewis Dunk. England international defender Lewis Dunk. Somehow £40m-rated Lewis Dunk.
In this country we have a strange habit of lauding extremely average lower-table central defensive partnerships while they're in the top flight, then conveniently ignore the fact they would have been at error on multiple occasions as they get relegated - I'm thinking Craig Dawson and Gareth McAuley.
Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy are further examples of that. The Seagulls conceded 60 goals last season and finished with a goal difference of -25. Into the England squad you go Lewis.
Burnley - Danny Drinkwater
It seems the Premier League winner is still riding on the wave of that infamous success in 2016 with Leicester.
Since departing the Foxes for Chelsea he has done pretty much nothing, apart from a few big nights out on the town. The only appearance of his loan at Turf Moor so far came in the 3-1 cup defeat to Sunderland. That says it all.
And in reality, was he ever much more than a neat and tidy centre-mid who got away with passing sideways because he was playing alongside the world's best defensive midfielder in N'Golo Kanté? Not for me to say...
Chelsea - Ruben Loftus-Cheek
I feel bad writing this because I do rate Rubey and he has had his injury problems, but that is exactly why he is probably the Blues' most overrated name.
Things have become a bit hyperbolic in his absence, as though he will be as good as Lampard himself upon his return from his latest knock.
His technique also needs honing, but he definitely has the ability to fulfil his potential. He is a player who can avoid returning to this list in the future.
Dubbed the 'German Messi' when he broke onto the scene at Schalke as a youngster, Meyer has come nowhere near justifying that label.
He arrived at Selhurst Park in summer 2018 amid much excitement and expectation but he has done very little since, mustering two goals and three assists last term.
You can see that the ability is there but he is a confidence player. Considering he struggles to get into the Crystal Palace side at the moment it seems he is lacking that at the moment.
Everton - Jordan Pickford
You feel Pickford's days as England's no.1 are numbered with Nick Pope back to full fitness and appearing more competent at his trade and more level-headed.
His distribution in general is good - not quite Ederson-level but usually accurate nonetheless - but his intent on wanting to play his way out of trouble at every possible moment is infuriating.
He has been prone to some high-profile mistakes, none moreso than his gaffe to hand Liverpool victory at Anfield in the Merseyside derby last season.
Leicester City - Ayoze Perez
While he is a likeable character and Newcastle fans would have been disappointed to see him leave, there is absolutely no way in hell that this lad is worth 32m British pounds.
Granted, he scored some hugely important goals for the Toon last season and worked very hard, but considering he is supposed to be a goalscoring flair player he too often flatters to deceive.
It was a sale that angered the Magpies faithful, his sale will eventually prove a good deal for Newcastle.
Liverpool - Naby Keita
Considering the anticipation that built over the year between Liverpool buying Keita and his actual arrival, he has been mightily underwhelming.
He is another highly-rated player who has struggled with injury, but he still managed 33 appearances last season.
Although he has shown flashes of brilliance, he has never really had a streak of form and you expect more than three goals and one assist from a £55m player.
Manchester City - Gabriel Jesus
It's difficult to call many members of Man City's squad overrated, but Gabriel Jesus stands out like a sore thumb.
Yes, he is a talented striker of Premier League level, but he does not belong in that Manchester City team - arguably the best in the world.
His touch, passing and finishing simply aren't good enough. Expect him to be playing for Everton in a season or so.
Manchester United - Andreas Pereira
Unlike their neighbours, United have plenty of options when it comes to overrated wastes of space.
Andreas Pereira is one of them, although it could be that he is a victim of their system. Either way, despite appearing objectively good at football he just doesn't seem to do anything - reflected in his low goal and assist return.
And yet, he regularly finds himself in the Brazil squad. Perhaps there's something we're missing?
Newcastle United - Sean Longstaff
Another neat and tidy English midfielder, but a Manchester United player?!
It would have been/ could still be a typically misguided United signing, as it is though he remains at St James' Park.
His six assists last season show he does have the ability to be a more than competent Premier League player, but the suggestion he is already there is absurd.
Norwich City - Patrick Roberts
Yes, Pat is a Man City loanee, but that does not detract from the fact he is unfortunately *overrated*.
Once handpicked by Lionel Messi himself to wear his signature Adidas F50 football boots as an up and coming talent, the latest in a series of loans has seen him shipped out to Norfolk.
He is another player who does have the talent to make it, but another season as underwhelming as his last on loan at Girona in La Liga then he may find his days at the Etihad are numbered.
Sheffield United - Ravel Morrison
This feels harsh, but it would be unfair to say any other member of the Blades' squad is overrated.
Chris Wilder has given the midfielder a huge opportunity by bringing him back to England and giving him a short-term deal.
Despite his excellent technique and undeniable talent, history tells us it won't work out. It would be nice to see a different outcome this time around.
Southampton - James Ward-Prowse
3It once seemed James Ward-Prowse had the technique and potential to be the next David Beckham. Now aged 24, that is looking increasingly less likely.
Although that technique is unquestionable and he enjoyed probably his best campaign last term, he fails to have as much impact on games as he should be with his ability.
He needs to raise his game soon otherwise he will become another young English player who failed to fulfil his potential.
Tottenham - Christian Eriksen
Another player who is technically gifted, but simply doesn't have the impact that he should on a regular basis.
There is a reason no one came in for him in the summer despite his inevitable come-and-get-me plea at the end of last season.
To be truly great, a player must have a say in every single game as the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Eden Hazard do or have done, rather than in streaks that make for good reading in the stats come the end of a campaign.
Watford - Nathaniel Chalobah
This in another harsh inclusion, but there was huge expectation when Chalobah bravely left Stamford Bridge and headed for Hertfordshire.
However, it is a gamble that is yet to pay off, with injuries hampering his two and a half years at the Hornets.
Those injuries have set him back and have seen him left on the bench so far this season. If he gets his head down on the training ground he still has a chance of reaching the top.
West Ham - Declan Rice
Quite a tricky selection as West Ham's squad is full of decent players who are quietly getting on with it.
Through no fault of Dec's own, he became a reported target for Manchester United earlier this year and now his reputation has ballooned.
He is a neat and tidy player, but he has some way to go before he becomes a £40m player.
Wolves - Leander Dendoncker
Touted as a key part of the next wave of exceptional talent to come out of Belgium, Dendoncker is yet to really hit those heights.
A useful and busy player, he seems to lack a bit of identity - the fact he only scored twice last season and failed to provide an assist is a demonstration of that. A closer look at his stats shows there is nothing really outstanding about him.
Time is on his side though - at just 24 he has time to come good and he is getting plenty of game time at Molineux.
