Bolton Wanderers v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Last updated : 28 November 2006 By Clive Dickman
This match proved that we are not yet ready to seriously challenge for the premiership title, we showed a naivety that is to be expected from a young team. We were defensively poor & upfront we never really looked a threat although we did clip the woodwork on three occasions.

Oh & how poor is the standard of referees this season? Mike Dean, who is normally one of the better refs, had a poor game dishing out far too many yellows cards for minor indiscretions but handing out the same punishment to Kevin Davies when he pushed Eboue to the ground. Bolton's decisive third goal also looked offside.

Lehmann - 5 - Could have done better at dealing with the cross that lead to Bolton's opening goal. Once again he got to easily wound up by the Bolton players antics which lead to him being booked.

Eboue - 5 - A poor performance both defensively & offensively.

Toure - 7 - His usual solid display with his customary surges up front.

Senderos - 5 - Looked shaky for much of the game, not his most convincing performance & looks destined to playing second fiddle to Gallas when he is back to full fitness.

Clichy - 4 - What has happened to the Clichy who was destined to be our new Ashley Cole? Looked a liability defensively & did not compensate offensively either.

Walcott - 7 - After a quiet first half he came more into the game in the second making some dangerous runs & putting in some good crosses.

Fabregas - 7 - Another tireless performance & unlucky with a late effort that shaved the crossbar.

Gilberto - 7 - Good to have him back he really is an unsung hero. Brought us back into the game with a powerful header on the stroke of half time.

Flamini - 5 - Left rooted to the ground for the cross that lead to Bolton's opening goal. Put in his usual quota of tackles but didn't create much. (Baptista 59)

Ljungberg - 4 - A poor showing from Freddie & at the minute he is painful to watch. Missed the chance of the match when picked out by Walcott's cross only to head an easy chance against the bar. (Hleb 73)

Adebayor - 5 - Not given any support up front. Missed a good opportunity in the second minute that could well have made for a very different game had he taken it.

Subs

Hleb - 5 - (73) Not on for long enough to make any real difference.

Baptista - 5 - (59) The beast is still getting acclimatised to his surroundings hopefully we will see the best of him once he has adjusted & is given a run in the team.

Subs Not Used: Almunia, Djourou, Hoyte
