Blackburn Rovers v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Last updated : 01 March 2007 By Luis Anaconda

We had the chances and can point to two very good shouts for a penalty turned down by the dreadful Graham Poll. Judging by the easy chances we missed I'm not sure we would have scored them anyway.

Manuel Almunia - 7 - Dealt competently with the little that he had to do.

Emmanuel Eboue - 4 - Victim of a dreadful tackle that went unpunished, he was an attacking full back who didn't cross the halfway line.

Philippe Senderos - 6 - Was having a fine game at centre back but was bizarrely switched to right back where he was beaten far too easily by McCarthy for the winning goal.

William Gallas - 8 - Excellent in his natural position and had a positive effect on Senderos as well. Please stay fit William.

Armand Traore - 6 - Has tricks aplenty and is a quick dribbler and incisive passer - quite how he ended up as a full back is beyond me. Was a bit too casual in defence at times last night.

Alexander Hleb - 5 - How can a player with such poise on the ball lose it so quickly when faced with a shooting opportunity. Not at his best.

Denilson - 7 - Another assured performance from our young Brazilian.

Gilberto Silva - 7- Another assured performance from our not-so-young Brazilian.

Freddie Ljungberg - 6 - Should have won a penalty, but more importantly should have scored when he made a great run only to be let down by a terrible first touch.

Jeremie Aliadiere - 6 - Superb movement off the ball but was unable to give us the cutting edge that we desperately need.

Julio Baptista - 6 - A mixed bag from our third Brazilian, tested Friedel twice from distance but failed to make him work with two chances inside the six-yard box.

Subs
Theo Walcott - 5 - Didn't have a great impact.
Gael Clichy - 6 - Steady performer.
