Just when Arsenal thought that the purchase of Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain from Spanish giants Real Madrid was simply a matter of signing on the dotted line, Guillem Balague has tweeted something regarding the transfer that throws a spanner in the works. He tweeted: ?Juventus and Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Higuain and will fight it off with Madrid. Biggest offer will take him?
This is bad news on two counts for the red half of North London. Firstly, competing with Juventus for the signature will be extremely hard due to the financial clout of the Serie A club and also because of their history. It is now a lottery of which club Higuain will pick after Arsenal fans had previously thought that they had wrapped up the deal. Secondly, in order to beat Juve to the signing, they may have to pay up to ?10m more than the previously quoted price of ?22m, which could set back other negotiations for further transfers.
Balague is a reliable source, working for Sky Sports and Spanish paper AS; if this tweet is indeed true, then it could break the hearts of many Arsenal fans who were already dreaming of Higuain in an Arsenal shirt.
