Admittedly Monsieur Wenger has gotten himself what looks like another bargain in capturing the signature of Yaya Sanogo (who is looking increasingly like the only signing Arsenal fans will see for all the rumors of war-chests, Higuan, Rooney, Fellaini and Ashley Williams we have heard)
A career total of 11 Goals in 24 games for Auxerre is an impressive haul surely, but 9 goals in 11 games last season (including a hat-trick) is splendid return for an up-and-coming striker.
However, unlike CR7, Messi, and other talented footballers who graduated from being signed as teenage prodigies to deliver immeasurably on their potentials, he remains largely untested against quality opposition with his best experience limited to a bit-part role in the back-waters of French football. And if news about his near-retirement at age 19 because of injury woes is anything to go by more is the pity if he?s added to an Arsenal squad whose tenacity mental strength has always been cause for concern (typically throwing away 4-goal leads, conceding minutes after scoring)
All we know now is that apart from his famed prodigious goal-scoring prowess that is untested at the highest level, his fantastic ?wonder-kid? label on almost all editions of Football Manager? and his worrying injury history Arsene Wenger has brought in what appears to be another anonymous player (a trend that is becoming distressingly common over the past 3 seasons) and only time will tell if he is going to be mentioned in the same breath with the legends or could-have-beens.
