Arsenal to target Premier League striker

Arsene Wenger has remained open about the possibility of signing a new striker in the summer prompting speculation over potential candidates

Asked about the situation Wenger revealed that it would be ‘nice’ if Arsenal signed a new striker which while it does not represent any solid commitment, it does suggest that they are keeping their options open

There are of course a number of strikers in the news at the moment such as Pedro, Cavani, Benzema, Lacazette and Edin Dzeko

In the case of Dzeko, the player has been persistently linked with a move to the Emirates and is a proven talent in the Premier League at Manchester City

The 29-year-old who joined Man City in 20111 for £27million from Wolfsburg will be allowed to leave the club according to reports despite signing a four-year extension last summer

Wenger did deny that the club were interested in Benzema but that they were willing to spend an ‘exceptional amount’ on a player that could take the club to a new level.

The Daily Star ran an exclusive at the weekend claiming that Arsenal were considering a bid for the Bosnian with concerns over the over-reliance on Giroud and the injury situation of Danny Welbeck

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain can be used in more forward roles but both England men are also susceptible to injury.

Arsenal would have competition to sign Dzeko and it is understood that Roma are also very interested in the forward.
