Arsene Wenger has been linked with a plethora of strikers recently, and Newcastle frontman Demba Ba is the latest to be linked with the Gunners, with Arsene Wenger eager to trigger the 7.5million pound buy out clause in the Senegal striker's contract, according to The Sun.
Arsene Wenger is desperate for a proven Premier League striker after the mediocrity of Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski this season. The two came into replace Robin van Persie after he was sold to Manchester United last summer ? and have failed to replicate the ruthlessness infront of goal as the Dutchman did last season.
Despite intese speculation all of last summer, no club stepped up for Ba, and Arsenal are reportedly interested in offering him ?60,000 a week as well as add-ons.
Newcastle?s board have tried everything to persuade the hotshot, who scored twice in last night?s 3-0 home win over Wigan, to sign a new improved contract ? with the buy-out clause taken out completely.
A source close to the player said: ?Demba wants to be paid what he thinks he deserves but remains committed to the club. He loves it at Newcastle and wants it to be sorted out as soon as possible.?
It will be interesting to see how committed Ba is when Arsenal come knocking ? and for a measly ?7.5million it could be a coup for Arsenal Football Club.
