It's reported that Arsenal have agreed terms with Barca's Alexis Sanchez, but it's clear that no agreement has been reached with his club yet.
Our chum Guilleaume Balague tweets:
"I heard Arsenal have a personal agreement with Alexis but offer less to FCB than Liverpool. Juve also interested. As it stands Alexis not part of the deal for Suárez. But not definitive. Despite personal agreement with Arsenal, LFC hope to convince him."
No doubt Arsenal will be trying a lowball offer if indeed there is one at all, but as usual not a hint of what's going on from anyone remotely connected with Arsenal.
Sanchez would clearly prefer a move to London rather than to some far flung northern enclave, so at least that's in our favour. The lad is a hot property following some useful displays in Brazil, but you feel that (as is usually the case with big name transfers) there's a lot of politics involved, and probably a chain of other gig name moves which will have a bearing on the situation.
Ultimately though, he's a great player and would be a welcome addition to the squad, although he's not the out and out striker that we desperately need.
