Defining moment of the season: Winning at Anfield despite Gio getting wrongfully sent off.
Despite his injury the AWIMB regulars decided Robert Pires worthy of being the fabulous AWIMB player of the season. His win was clear, the only competition came from Freddie Ljungberg, although it was never close.
In an equally clear win Dennis Bergkamp won Best Goal for his flip, waltz and shot against Newcastle. This in a year where there were numerous flashes of brilliance in front of goal.
Two players won categories for the second straight year. Ashley Cole was deemed young enough to receive another Young Gun, while Kanu will have to have a think about winning the Most Disappointing Player again. Cole was rivalled by Taylor and Juan, while some of the disappointment was shared by Jeffers and Inamoto.
The breakthrough of the season was that of Edu, beating off Sol and Taylor by a clear margin. Freddie Ljungberg registered some votes, which speaks volumes of the peak he finished the season on. Freddie got a few votes in the most improved category as well, although the real fight was between Wiltord and Edu with the Frenchman squeezing his new midfield role into the winning position.
Another tight vote was the tie between Wiltord and Lauren for unsung hero of the season. In this categroy Gary Lewin actually picked up a couple of votes, although Oleg Luzhny was the closest rival to the joint winners.
Game of the season was a Champions League affair, although just beating us winning the championship at Old Trafford. In general there were many more games worth enjoying in the league this season compared to last. The most disappointing game was the home game against Deportivo. The away game was a close rival as were the league game against the 12 barcodes at Highbury and that miserably awful game against Charlton.

Interestingly there was a lot of consensus on which the defining moment of the season was. Last season every opinion was different. This time the heroics of Anfield won the vote.
